The 6th of July 2013 marked the 25th anniversary of the destruction of the Piper Alpha offshore platform. At 10pm on 6th July, 1988, a gas leak explosion triggered a series of fires and further explosions. Less than two hours later, the platform with most the crew fell beneath the North Sea.
