A CARGO ship which triggered a massive rescue operation when it became stricken in the Solent was grounded deliberately to prevent it from capsizing, it has emerged
Its owners Hoegh Autoliners said the 590ft-long ship had to be grounded deliberately on the Bramble Bank sandbar after it started listing dangerously. They are still investigating what caused it to tilt.

Is this a case of a failure of the ship's automated balance system? If so I'd like to see the safety assessment . . . . !
