Sea Gem disaster anniversary acts as safety and health reminder
The 50th anniversary of the Sea Gem disaster – which killed 13 people – should serve as a reminder of the importance of safety and health in the offshore industry. The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) says big strides have been made in safeguarding workers in the sector over the past half a century. But it says ageing installations and the development of new technologies present fresh challenges.
