Safer Lithium-Ion Batteries
Portable electronic devices are becoming more and more prevalent in every aspect of society, from drones and balancing scooters (aka hoverboards) to medical devices and cell phones. The phenomenal increase in these devices has simultaneously increased demand for the batteries that power them. One disadvantage of portable electronic devices is that the batteries are susceptible to failure, particularly when physically damaged or breached, potentially causing a fire, explosion, or hazardous leak. These potential risks, along with recent warnings from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, have escalated the interest in safer options. Phillips-Medisize has developed and patented an innovative technology.
